Desde la Campa\u00f1a Global para Reivindicar la Soberan\u00eda de los Pueblos, Desmantelar el Poder de las Transnacionales y Poner Fin a la Impunidad expresamos nuestra profunda indignaci\u00f3n ante el asesinato a balazos de Marielle Franco el 14 de marzo.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Marielle Franco,\u00a0concejala del\u00a0Partido Socialismo y Libertad (PSOL), era una reconocida defensora de los derechos humanos, activa en\u00a0la lucha feminista y antiracista. Unos d\u00edas antes de su asesinato, hab\u00eda denunciado la acci\u00f3n brutal y los continuos abusos por parte de la\u00a0polic\u00eda militar\u00a0en la regi\u00f3n de Iraj\u00e1, en la comunidad de Acari.\u00a0En particular, apunt\u00f3 en las\u00a0redes sociales<\/u><\/a>: \u00abtenemos que gritar para que todos sepan lo que pasa. El 41\u00b0 Batall\u00f3n de la Polic\u00eda Militar de R\u00edo de Janeiro est\u00e1 aterrorizando y violentando a los habitantes de Acari. Esta semana dos j\u00f3venes fueron asesinados y tirados en una alcantarilla. Hoy la polic\u00eda camin\u00f3 por las calles amenazando a los habitantes. Sucede desde siempre pero con la\u00a0<\/em>intervenci\u00f3n militar<\/em>\u00a0se puso a\u00fan peor<\/em>\u00ab.\u00a0Marielle participaba como relatora en la comisi\u00f3n del Consejo creada con el objetivo de fiscalizar\u00a0las operaciones policiales.<\/p>\n

Este crimen ha tenido lugar un mes despu\u00e9s de que el Presidente\u00a0de Brasil, Michel Temer, decrete una intervenci\u00f3n federal en la seguridad de Rio de Janeiro, con el supuesto objetivo de combatir la ola de violencia que afecta a este Estado.\u00a0Deste este entonces, Marielle y diversos movimientos y organizaciones sociales de Brasil se han publicamente opuesto al uso de la fuerza del ej\u00e9rcito en la seguridad p\u00fablica, se\u00f1alando la brutalidad que las ocupaciones previas en favelas hab\u00edan generado.<\/p>\n

Manifestamos nuestra solidaridad con el Pueblo brasile\u00f1o y\u00a0demandamos al Estado brasile\u00f1o, a trav\u00e9s de los diversos \u00f3rganos competentes, que garantice una investigaci\u00f3n inmediata y rigurosa sobre el asesinato de Marielle Franco. Demandamos que se detenga la violaci\u00f3n de los derechos humanos, la represi\u00f3n y criminalizaci\u00f3n de lo\/as defendores\/as de derechos en este pa\u00eds.\u00a0Nos comprometemos a seguir vigilantes ante la investigaci\u00f3n y sanciones para para los autores intelectuales y materiales de este crimen.<\/p>\n

Letter of protest for the murder of Marielle Franco<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity expresses its deep indignation in regards to the assassination of Marielle Franco on March 14.<\/p>\n

\nMarielle Franco, alderman of the Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL), was a recognized Human Rights defender, active in the feminist and antiracist struggle. A few days before her murder, she had denounced the brutal action and continuous HR violations by the Brazilian military police in the region of Iraj\u00e1, in the community of Acari. In particular, she said in\u00a0social networks<\/u><\/a>:\u00a0\u00abWe have to scream to let everybody know what is happening. The 41st Battalion of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro is terrorizing and ravaging the inhabitants of Acari. This week two young people were killed and thrown into a sewer. Today the police walked through the streets threatening the inhabitants. It has always happened but with the military intervention it got even worse\u00bb.<\/em>\u00a0Marielle participated as a rapporteur in the commission of the Council created with the objective of overseeing police operations.<\/p>\n

\nThis crime has taken place a month after the President of Brazil, Michel Temer, decrees a federal intervention in the security of Rio de Janeiro, with the supposed objective of fighting the wave of violence that affects this State.\u00a0Since then,\u00a0 Marielle and various social movements and organizations in Brazil have\u00a0 publicly opposed the use of army force in public security, pointing to\u00a0 the brutality that previous occupations in favelas had generated.<\/p>\n

\nWe express our solidarity with the Brazilian People and demand that the Brazilian State, through the various competent bodies, guarantees an immediate and rigorous investigation into the murder of Marielle Franco. We demand that the violation of human rights, the repression and criminalization of defenders of rights in this country stops. We commit ourselves to remain vigilant before the investigation and sanctions for the intellectual and material authors of this crime.<\/p>\n
